Since my last couple of posts and tutorials have been focused on PHP, it is good timing to tell you that AMF will soon be coming to the Zend Framework . Much like AMFPHP , the proposed Zend_Amf component will make communication between Flash and PHP lightening fast. What’s even better news is that the guy Zend has advising them on implementing AMF is none other than Wade Arnold , who runs the AMFPHP project. Look for a lot more news on this as it becomes available. This is an exciting step towards solidifying the relationship between PHP and Flash. Lee

I’m having problems downloading files from a non-public directory. I created a controller to handle uploads and I’m able to upload files to the directory I wanted. But I don’t want the files publicly accessible, so I uploaded them to a directory outside the public web root. The idea was that all uploads and downloads would go through the controller so I could controller access to them. My problem now is how to download the files through the controller. I’m u... more

I’ve just launched a new blog that focuses on WPF development and will focus mainly on how it compares to Flash. I will need to start learning WPF and the Expression tool for work so I figure I might as well document my travels. From what I’ve seen and used so far, I’d have to say that I’m pretty impressed with it. Having true 3D support is something that Flash will have to face if they want to keep ahead of the competition. So come on over to http://www.theWPFblog.com ... more
After Effects and Flash - Sound Key Array
From: theflashblog.com
Post Date: 2006-06-01 15:15:17

I’ve been experimenting with exporting keyframe values from After Effects. More specifically I’ve been using the Sound Keys plugin to generate three different arrays based on frequency. I am using a JSX script to generate the text files which contain a Actionscript array of all the values. Then inside of Flash I playback the sound file through an external MP3 and match the timecode with the values. I’m taking these values and enlarging 3 different circles as well as using the ... more
Flash Needs 3D to Compete with WPF
From: theflashblog.com
Post Date: 2006-05-31 11:26:29

It’s a sad statement to have to make, but it’s true. Since I’ve started learning WPF for work, I’ve been pretty impressed with the features, especially the 3D support. A non-programmer can easily create and manipulate 3D objects as well as project live data or even video onto those surfaces. The actual 3D geometry isn’t anti-aliased so it is pretty jagged, but using 2.5 D like we have in After Effects, is flawless. This is something that Flash is going to have to s... more
