After installing Windows Vista SP1, chances are that you will shortly afterwards be faced by System Tray balloon asking you if you want to join the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program. Clicking on this notifications displays the following dialog box:
This dialog might seem confusing because it seems as though it doesn’t allow you the option of choosing I don’t want to join the program at this time because the OK button is grayed out.
So what’s going on here? Well, when you installed Windows Vista you were asked if you wanted to participate in the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program. If you said that you didn’t want to, that response was stored on your system. However, on installing SP1 you are once again given the opportunity to join the program. Because you’ve already said no once, and this setting is stored, the dialog box reflects this setting.

There are two points in your article that stand out for me. The first is about writing thank you notes. It’s something that I used to do when I was in sales years ago, but for some reason did not remember to do it in my own business. The second is your point about listening to your customers when they offer advice. It’s true, that paying close attention the the advice your customer offers is important. But active listening sometimes means listening with more that your ears. Som...

This blog post will show you why it’s important to be methodical when tracking down PC-related problems.
Yesterday one of the kid’s PCs decided it wasn’t going to work. It was totally dead. Nothing, nada, zip.
I disconnected it from all the desk wiring and bought it to the bench when I tested the PSU using an Easy PSU tester . The PSU passed the test so I knew that wasn’t the problem. I then pulled out all the RAM but one module and tried the system. Nothing....
