The Hon. Sen. John S. McCain c/o John McCain 2008 P.O. Box 16118 Arlington, VA 22215 Dear Senator McCain, First, let me express, as a fellow veteran, my deepest appreciation for your sacrifice in service to our country.  Few in our nation have given what you have and lived to tell the tale.  No matter what the future holds, in my eyes you are a hero for what you have done. Senator McCain, I am one of those “Reagan Conservatives” who has, of late, felt abandoned by the GOP.  In fact, I am so ashamed of Republican kowtowing to public opinion, to the Democrat machine that has succeeded in establishing a double standard of public opinion where a Klansman who is a Democrat can become President Pro Tem with impunity but it seems that a Republican who hears a sneeze and says “God bless you” gets censured for failing to separate church and state, and to Big Business by “pimping” out utilities and infrastructure to the highest bidder to the po...

Early this morning, lawmakers announced that they had agreed on a tentative plan to bailout financial firms . The Wall Street Journal reported an "exhausted" Treasury Secretary as saying, "I think we’re there," during a press conference with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senator Christopher Dodd, and House FInancial Services Chairman Barney Frank--all top Democrats. Pelosi said, "We’ve made great progress. We have to get it committed to paper... more
John McCain is no friend of farmers
From: jlbreport.com
Post Date: 2008-09-29 09:06:10

Coming from a long line of farmers in my home county of Barbour, I have always had a soft spot in my heart for American farm families. I know first hand how tough life can be for farmers and their families. That’s why Senator John McCain’s recent comments opposing the Farm Bill were so disturbing. McCain came out in strong opposition to the bill, saying “I don’t support agricultural subsidies no matter where they are. The farm bill, $300 billion, is something America simply can’t a... more

I received this flier in the mail the other day from the North Carolina Republican State Executive Committee. Clinton and McCain look like they’re in love, judging by the cover, and the copy is just adulatory: “With intensity and hard work, she left 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling” and, on the inside, “I share Senator Clinton’s goal of promoting women to more important roles throughout our government. By the end of my first time, I promise yo... more

The outcome of the election was not a surprise. A Dem win by either Senator Clinton or Obama became a near fait accompli the moment McCain clinched the nomination in a year in which the economy was the dominant issue for the electorate. The real shocker would have been a McCain upset. But like many other [...]... more

Dear Senator, In reply to your remarks on MSNBC this week in regards to telecom immunity being “a festering wound,” the ACLU would like to express its most enthusiastic feelings of agreement. It occurs to us, however, that you did vote for telecom immunity at both opportunities presented to you. (Remember? In February and July ?) We are perplexed but also gladdened at your recent change of heart. And may we share this exciting news with you? It is within your very po... more

As you know, it’s incredibly rare that I crib someone else’s published piece wholesale and reprint it here. It has to be something I wish I’d written myself, something that makes a point I think needs to be heard far and wide, or both. We got home late last night–almost 11:00, and my day started at 5:30 this morning.  That’s the price of having a daughter who is a competitive swimmer.  I get up to get her up and to the pool at 6:20 in the morning–long before the sun gets its lazy butt in the sky.  Needless to say, all the caffeine I dare to ingest has not alleviated the fog in my brain enough to concentrate on job searching.   Therefore, I went to surf the Web, and that’s where my heart broke. ... more

Is there anyone in this world who is NOT familiar with Murphy’s Law ?  It had reasoned so much of my life that by the time I was a junior in high school, I already had it memorized and recited it frequently in attempts (some would say futile) to keep me sane.  In case you are one of the 66/100ths % of the populace who has been heretofore ignorant of that most basic of probability laws, here it is. Murphy’s Law (Murphy was an optimist!) Nothing is as... more
