Those of you who followed politics in the 1990s may remember the Ed Rollins book of the same name, in which the conservative strategist who worked for Reagan, Kemp, and then Perot detailed his life in American politics, and his eventual exile at the hands of the Bushes. Rollins’ book was the first political work I read when deciding to become a Republican after seeing the first two years of the Clinton Administration. I was still a bit confused at how a guy from a union-friendly Democratic Catholic family like me could end up identifying with the GOP, and former FDR/JFK Democrat-turned-Republican Rollins seemed like someone who had gone through the same evolution, and who thus may have some wisdom on the subject.
