We were listed in 4 different carnivals this past week. Not only were the number of carnivals a first for me, but the number of authors were also a first: myself, my wife, and a guest author. Our post, 12 Ways To Be Financially Boring , was listed at the Carnival of Personal Finance #154. We were listed as having caught the editor’s eye. In other words, we were an editor’s choice. Awesome. Some other posts the I liked in the Carnival were Why Aren’t You Bald? Top 5 Reasons , by the Money Kings. Bottom line is, you can save a good amount of money by not paying for hair cuts. Budgeting for the Unexpected Expenses by The Personal Financier points out that if you plan for emergencies, they then become only unexpected expenses, rather than true emergencies. A guest post at Save and Conquer by Sarah Scrafford , titled Debit Debt From Your Life , was listed in the 141st edition of the Carnival of Debt Reduction . My company offers both a 401k and a Roth 401k account for all vested employees. The regular 401k was all that was offered prior to 2007. Along with contributing to the 401k or Roth 401k up to at least the employer’s match, it is a good idea to maximize contributions to Roth IRAs, as well. Then maximize the 401k or Roth 401k as your final retirement allocation.
