Bill Synder of CIO magazine had an article he recently wrote on open source CRM published today. In it, he highlights a point that my colleague spoke about yesterday: the lingering resistance that many C-level executives have towards allowing open source into the enterprise at the application level.
There’s still plenty of CIOs unsure of the licensing, publication, and ownership rights surrounding the open source model, and in their defense, rightfully so. In the past, the open source market has suffered from a lack of consolidation and standardization of these practices, but fortunately, things have changed.

The open source concept confounds a lot of people. When I explain the SugarCRM manufacturing model, I often hear non-tech types ask me questions like “So, wait, these guys just test your product and track bugs, for free?”
It is odd, I guess, when you think about it. But the nice people at Psychology Today were not happy to just say “hey some people like coding.” Instead, they are looking deeper into the psychology behind open source and open wiki contributors.

I just wanted to weigh in for a second on Facebook, and its luring Sheryl Sandberg away from Google.
I think it’s a good idea. I have a lot of respect for what Zuckerberg has done so far. But Facebook is at a very critical point - and as a CRM analyst at heart, I think the consumer experience is borderline horrible.

I’ve been checking out Ostatic - it’s definitely in in infancy, but I think it has some potential.
While there are a lot of great views in the blogosphere around open source software, this blog is dedicated to actually making some of this software available at its site, and allowing visitors to comment and collaborate around these projects.
