samantha’s school was closed friday for a “teacher development day” and mama had a lot of important meetings so it was daddy-daughter day.
we started with some computer time. ever since i “repurposed” mama’s old desktop for samantha she wants to play with the computer all the time. we limit her to 15-30 minutes a day. she has already gotten very good at using the mouse, which we are training to do with her right hand (samantha appears to be left-handed so far for some things like writing, but not for other things like scissors). so far she has spent all of her time at starfall.com , a fantastic and totally free web site for learning about letters and reading. i have been trying to scope out other web sites for kids. the other sites i have found (pbskids.org, nickjr.com, etc.) are full of advertisements, more advanced, and usually would require parental assistance, at least in the beginning. any suggestions?
