The weekend estimate was $155.3 million for The Dark Knight, breaking the record for best opening weekend of all time. After the final tally, however, they actually had to revise that figure upwards. So the new record is actually $158.4 million.
Well done, good sirs. The gauntlet is now at your feet to introduce female characters with more complexity in a third film, which will have to be a bit lighter in tone, because you just can’t get darker than that. In a rather stunningly good casting job as far as physical appearance goes, Christine Horne is being "introduced" in The Stone Angel, based on the best-selling novel by Margaret Laurence, to play the younger version of Ellen Burstyn.
