Dell has started their netbook journey officially last night in Manila as they introduced the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 together with their Dell Studio Laptops and Dell Studio Hybrid in 8 colors. As expected on our previous report , its price is revealed at Php 24, 599 for Windows XP version, which is a bit expensive but still affordable. There’s no words on pricing for the Ubuntu version yet.
One thing that actually turned me netbook ignorant are the function keys [that I first thought were missing] that were placed across the middle of the keyboard sharing letters A to L, etc. Some keys like scroll lock is missing as well, but who uses it anyway? Good thing about lesser keys is that it save space for other keys for larger and easier access.
Just a refresher, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 sports 1.6G Intel Atom, 8.9-inch screen at 1024 X 600, WiFi and Bluetooth, 1GB RAM and 16GB SSD. It can have more storage via box.net .

Dell Inspiron Mini is now available in Spain with Ubuntu 8.04 installed.
I’m tempted to buy one.
Since this little thing has a bluetooth chip I want to make sure I could
use a bluetooth headpnone with it.
Looking into Dell’s website and using Google I haven’t found an answer
to this question.

Date March 5, 2008, Asus officially announced on their site that they are launching Asus Eee PC pre-installed with Windows XP. They promise that users enjoy an efficient online and work management experience with the incorporated Windows Live and Microsoft Works features.

You may sometimes notice that your installation just hangs when it reached a certain percent during installation. The reason is probably you’re behind a proxy and it does not allow you to access the repository you are supposed to connect to.
The solution is simple. Edit your apt.conf file under /etc/apt and you’re good to go. Just follow the following steps.

Is Asus Eee that hot to trigger competitors to create their ultra-ultraportable laptops? I think it is. Asus should very proud of they have achieved with their tiny beautiful eee pc.
The Asus Eee PC competitors are dubbed as Asus Eee PC killers but I think they’ll have to eat dusts first cause Asus Eee PC won’t be dead.
