Yeah, that Notepad. It has a feature that few know about, and I’m not talking about word wrap. You can actually use it as a log file. By typing “.LOG” on the first line of a Notepad file and then saving the file, you automatically add a current date and time stamp every time you re-open the file. And it even works in the Notepad version on Windows Server 2008. Image from Windows Server 2008 I’ve known about this for years, but it’s always fun when I re-remember it. I think I need a good programming forum. I’m frustrated. Anyhoo, given this code: Code: Dim outLogPath As String = "C:logfile.txt" Dim outLogStream As System.IO.StreamWriter If Not IO.File.Exists(outLogPath) Then outDataStream = System.IO.File.CreateText(outLogPath) Else : outLogStream = New System.IO.StreamWriter(outLogPath, False) End If outLogStream.WriteLine("Log File Created") The file gets created but do... more

DC vs. Heller Supreme Court Decision Due Today

I’m really looking forward to the Supreme Court’s decision on D.C. vs. Heller , which is due today. This has the potential to be a key precedent for 2nd Amendment rights for decades to come.   Ideally they will rule that the 2nd amendment cannot be taken away from individuals (unless you’re a felon), and that only “reasonable restrictions” may apply, e.g. you don’t need automatic weapons, anti-tank weapons, etc. I’m not hopeful, how... more
Theory: Apple is “Pulling a Wii” With iPhone 3G Stock
From: feeds.feedburner.com
Post Date: 2008-07-17 20:21:50

I think Apple could put out enough iPhones to maintain stock in Apple and AT&T stores, but they’re choosing not to. They’re pulling a Wii. I think a big part of the allure of the Wii was the fact that you couldn’t find one for months. It’s a simple matter of wanting things we can’t have. And it’s happening now with the iPhone 3G as well. Do you know when you’re getting some in? No way to know…we had a shipment yesterday but they sold... more
