Diebold has confessed that it’s voting machines loose votes . According to spokesman Chris Riggall, a “critical programming error that can cause votes to be dropped while being electronically transferred from memory cards to a central tallying point” has been part of the software for ten years. Paper ballots people. There has to be an audit trail.

I’ve been using JungleDisk for a week or so and I already can’t live without it. JungleDisk is a front end to Amazon’s S3 service and it runs on your computer as a WebDAV server. Of course I use the OS X version, but they have versions for Windows and Linux also. JungleDisk looks like a mounted drive on your desktop and you can copy files to it or set up automatic backups.
