Kim is hosting a unique, and what I hope will be a fun and flexible, challenge called: Every Month is a Holiday . The idea is to read one book a month which celebrates a notable day, holiday or special event. She is allowing a great deal of leeway on how books are chosen and how they fit into the event for a specific month…and she’s given us lists for every month that outline all the various “holidays.” You should really go check it out!
Of course, I could not say no to this challenge…I’m planning on choosing my book as each month approaches. I don’t want to be tied to a specific list, but want my book choices to be flexible based on how I am feeling. I believe this is part of the fun of a challenge like this one…and I intend to have FUN!

J.Kaye is hosting this one - and although I feel stupid joining yet another challenge after admitting I’m already in over my head… I decided to do this because I have a towering stack of books in this genre which have sat on my TBR shelf for years. This seems like a good way for me to make a dent in the stacks. The challenge rules are to read a total of 12 different sub-categories in the suspense-thriller genre (J. Kaye gives a hu...

Winter showed its stormy face yesterday with a mixture of hail, thunder and lightening, and a couple of inches of wet snow. This morning the sun is out and the snow is melting. March is like this - it can’t seem to make up its mind whether to be spring or winter.
Given the unsettled weather yesterday, I was happy to find my latest edition of World Literature Today in my mailbox. The March-April issue is all about globalization and its impact on li...

COMPLETED this challenge! What a great challenge - thank you Michelle for hosting it. I finished this much earlier than I would have imagined which speaks to how successful I’ve been at obtaining ARCs. I’ve discovered a number of new authors through this challenge; most of the books I read were debut novels. My favorite book read was The Outlander, by Gil Adamson. I am looking forward to reading more of her novels. I would...
