In the worldview of a journalist from the Murdoch press in Australia - more than happy to visit the Middle East and blindly publish propaganda from the US military - the world should send more troops to Afghanistan :
NATO’S new top commander in Afghanistan says the international coalition is “struggling to win” a strategic victory against the Taliban and he wants a significant increase in troop numbers, including more Australians, to ensure success.
General David McKiernan has asked Washington to boost US troop numbers with the addition of an extra brigade-size combat force, beyond an already flagged 10,000 increase in the US military presence, The Australian reports.
He also wants a commensurate commitment from America’s NATO allies and coalition partners, including Australia.
If the reporter had actually spent time away from the US military, he would have found a very different story, as the Associated Press reports :

You may have heard that there was a primary in Texas today. Caucus too, which is still going on in many places. (Yes, I participated in both — reports are further down here .)
This is also TAKS week, the week of the HIGH STAKES TESTING of our youngsters from 3rd grade through 11th or 12th. The BIG test, English Language Arts, was originally scheduled for today, but was was moved to tomorrow statewide due to the importance of today’s primary and caucus.  Sounds reason...

My precinct’s democratic caucus began exactly an hour ago and there are still hundreds of people lined up outside. I left early since the only people staying after they signed the sheet for their candidate are the ones who want to be delegates at the county or state level.
Our caucus was very disorganized in the sense that none of the people in charge seemed to know how many tables they wanted or how they wanted us to file through the room.

There were 11 voting booths, half empty, and only one at the prope...

Bush just endorsed McCain and sounded like he’s on a meth bender. He couldn’t let McCain have the spotlight.
If I were McCain I’d be hoping that’s the last time I have to appear with Junior during this campaign. He’s a reminder of everything people loathe about Republica...
