Clever Andy just went live after an aggressive marketing campaign that had a lot of people curious . The basic premise behind the service is simple and has been accomplished in the past. Designers usually present more than one concept to a client and when the client makes their final decision, the left over designs don’t have anywhere to call home. But - here’s the twist (and it’s a big one): Clever Andy doesn’t sell your design off to someone else. That wouldn’t do your design justice (plus, you wouldn’t make as much money). Clever Andy actually takes your design, turns it into a full-fledged operational ExpressionEngine site, actively seeks out clients that need the applications, tweaks it for the specific client, and then sells the ent...

Talking ChaCha Trash
From: michaelwales.com
Post Date: 2007-01-08 13:11:54

Update: Michael Arrington pointed out ChaCha’s linking policy - now that is hilarious… I never noticed that, but it’s something else to laugh at! By now most of you have seen my post entitled Have ChaCha Investors Tried ChaCha? - it seems as if the people running ChaCha and the people running their PR machine have as well. Between the 11AM and 1PM PST the people from ScottAJones.com and DittoePR.com hit my blog quite a bit in search of that post. For those ... more

Three days ago I was accepted as a ChaCha Guide - so I feel as if I’m in a fairly decent position to ask: have ChaCha investors even tried ChaCha? First - in addition to announcing the financing, ChaCha announced a marketing ploy in which they will pay Guides $1 per person that downloads the ChaCha toolbar. The 111 Guides ... more
Waiting for Apollo

I am really looking forward to Adobe’s release of Apollo - a cross-OS runtime that allows developers to leverage their existing web development skills (Flash, Flex, HTML, Ajax) to build and deploy desktop RIA’s. My wife is not the most computer-savvy person in the world - she pretty much limits herself to taking photos with our digital camera and putting them up on MySpace . I have tried numerous products to make this easier on her ( Picasa , PicaJet , Sharpcast , ... more
A Day in the Life of an Airman
From: michaelwales.com
Post Date: 2006-12-28 10:42:46

So, I’ve been conversing quite a bit with Mitch Denny - primarily on Microsoft’s Laptops for Bloggers PR stunt and he mentioned that I don’t blog about my military service a lot. So, as I put the finishing touches on my next Ruby on Rails tutorial I decided to take a quick step back and discuss what I do each day. The first revision of this article went into detail about my day-to-day job, but to be honest that has nothing to do with my military duty. Yes, I wake up... more
