Once, I worked in a horse stable as a groom for some pretty well heeled horses. They had more “clothing” (blankets, wraps, etc) than a Barbie doll, and I needed to give them a costume change after everything I did. They had seperate attire for hanging around, going out in the pasture, and everything else they did. Everything was kept so clean that you could not smell that there was even one horse there, when there were actually about thirty. I understand that when you have a horse you paid half a million to two million dollars for, that you probably have lots of money to spend on cleaning supplies. On the other hand, as a horse lover, I wanted to smell horses and hay just a little bit.
My dogs are much tinier than my equine charges, but it seems sometimes that the battle to keep the house smelling clean is even harder. I don’t have to tell you if you are a dog owner, that sometimes accidents happen, and sometimes scent hounds decide they are going to...

Just look at that face. Have you seen such a look of trust despite the pain?
This pit bull has a very gentle nature and is highly adoptable to a family that can handle a pitbull’s need for exercise (though he is far from being able to do much yet). He is getting along very well with other dogs, and all the people he has met so far. He does have three problems, however:

I do a lot of “connection making” for not just dogs and rescues, but other charity ventures as well. Ever the fundraiser, I contemplated once about establishing my own non-profit, in order to either rescue animals myself or to be able to legitimately raise money to give to groups so they could focus on doing their work. I always thought I needed a good amount of seed money, or a rescue should.
I was shocked when I learned that there are a lot of rescuers out there who are not...

Several hikers planted a tree along the trail in Vogel State Park in Blairsville, G...
