Some of you have told me that you’d like to learn more about how I make money blogging. I’m no expert, and I’m not making a ton of money, but I’ll be happy to tell you what I’m doing and how you can do it too.
First, please understand that most people (except for huge blogs such as The Simple Dollar , Get Rich Slowly , ProBlogger , etc.) don’t make enough money blogging to quit their day jobs. And when you do start earning money, it’s in trickles. It will take many months, even a year or more to start earning anything.
That said, if your blog appeals to a wide audience, you can (and should) consider earning at least a small amount for your time.
Build up your reader base first.
Do this by blogging regularly (3-7 times per week) with content that will appeal to your niche audience, visiting other blogs and commenting, joining blog networks, submitting your links to carnivals”Mr. Linky”...

My brother-in-law and his girlfriend are coming to visit us this weekend! We’re really excited to spend time together.
In an effort to save money, we’ll be eating our dinners at home, rather than at a restaurant . We’ll probably grab a lunch or two somewhere in town, though.
Anyway, I don’t want to look like a total cheap-o when it comes to food, so I’m whipping out a restaurant-esque menu for our guests. I’ve selected a few dishes that I think will be...

Did you ever do this during school?
In my economics class, we played a stock market simulation game. We had $100,000 each to "spend" on stocks. We consulted the newspaper, chose companies we knew of, and bought some shares on paper.
Periodically, we checked our progress. Some of us lost quite a bit, but others did really well.
Recently, I signed up for an online version of a stock simulation.

more How much two 20-somethings pay to live in PittsburghFrom: sensetosave.com

I mentioned that by my best estimates, we need a minimum of $1,800 to pay our expenses each month. Here’s what that would include:
$750 rent on our 2 bedroom/1.5 bath 900 sq. foot apartment in Pittsburgh
$277.33 car payment
$415 every six months for car insurance (hopefully that will go down when we renew). That worked out to be about $84 on the five-payment plan
$50 gas (sometimes more, sometimes less)
$60 for phone and cable
$50-90 for electric, depending on the sea...

At the beginning of this month, Shane and I sat down to look over all of our spending for the month of February.
No purchase or expense stood out as, "Whoa! What were we thinking?!" but we spent more than I think we should have. Had it not been for our federal income tax refund, things could have gotten a little scary.
For March, we’re going to do things a little differently.
For starters, we’re only going to use our credit cards for gasoline . In the past, I’ve charge...
