The best time to listen to coaches, mentors and gurus is during or after a loss. That’s when you figure out if they’re really any good. That’s when you figure out who can quickly analyze, regroup and re-energize the team without anger humiliation or intimidation. That’s one of the first questions I would ask a prospective employer. If the answer is yes, follow-up with, "what would you like me to change?"
I think that’ll get a meaningful conversation going and demonstrate your ability to think.
Oh...if the answer is no....move on.
