From the article: Today we’re going to take a look at a few (well, maybe more than a few) ways to check your Linux box to find out if the reason it’s beginning to perform poorly is related to memory or memory-management issues. For today’s examples, in particular, we’ll be using SUSE Linux 9.x , but most of these examples translate just as easily to RedHat, Ubuntu and other widely-used distro’s, with some minor modifications.

“The appearance of first netbook by Asus, EEE PC, brought to polarization in public opinion. While supporters of netbook concept accentuated mobility and low price, opponents had some other arguments in their favor. First was the fact that work on such a small device is uncomfortable, and the second objection goes to its toyish looks that only goes hand in hand with young girls and boys. Time showed that new netbook models with 8.9-inch and 10-inch diagonals can offer to most users quite satisf... more

In a move that bodes very well for my beloved ultra-portable category of laptops , Asus announced/leaked that there will be a nearly identical 8.9″/9″ screen model to the very popular 7″ EEE PC 701 model. Details are not as clear as we’d like, but it looks like in addition to the move from a 7″ screen to 9″, they will sport a Gig of RAM and 12 GB of HDD, doubling the RAM and tripling the storage space. All of this while gaining only slightly in size and ... more

I am a practical Linux guy. I’m not a developer, but I love technology. Although I think it’s an interesting exercise to install Linux on something (like an Xbox) on which it was never intended to run, I’m not the guy to do it. It’s from this perspective that I’m commenting on the Asus Eee PC. Specifically, I bought an Asus 701 EEE PC 4G. It has a 7″ screen, runs a flavor of Xandros Linux, has all the basic things I was looking for in a portabl... more
