Jeff Thredgold’s wish: Make legislators run a business

Jeff Thredgold is an economic consultant who has been writing a weekly column (now online) called TeaLeaf: Understanding Today’s Economy, since 1976. His column has good information about economics and the economy. This week his column focused on a list of “Wouldn’t it be nice if…” My favorite: Wouldn’t it be nice if … …each long-term member of Congress was required to take a year off, start a new business with limited funding, and then deal with the complexities and hassles THEY have created True. The rules and regulations stifling small businesses are horrendous. They increase the cost of goods and services while not doing what they are intended to do. Case is point is OSHA , which created by well-meaning legislators and signed into law by President Nixon in 1970. OSHA is supposed to protect U.S. workers from the big, bad corporations.
