Yuck! Just when you had forgotten about the former Texas Senator. How exactly does John McCain answer the question of what he’s doing handling Phil Gramm’s Enron and UBS baggage in exchange for highly dubious economic advice? Is this what we could expect McCain to foist on the rest of the country -- a man who helped run energy and banking policy in the ground while he and his family pocketed millions? Is this the ethical distance from lobbyists McCain trumpted while using the UBS lobbyist Gramm for banking and economic policy crafting advice? Using a lobbyist and officer of a troubled bank to craft banking policy in which it has an interest while, at the same time, using him to stump for you on the campaign trail? Does the word "self-dealing" come to mind for you, too? (more...)

Welcome to Vichy America
This was not just another election. The last time we had a presidential election, the Left tried to get a brazen traitor elected - namely John Kerry. This new President from the Left is even more than that. Obama was no traitor, because he never was really on our side in the first place. Obama was really a foreign candidate - in spirit, funding, and citizenship.

Out in California, they recalled 143 million pounds of tainted beef. That’s one triple-stacked burger at Wendy’s. A hundred forty three million pounds of tainted beef! I believe that’s the largest amount of tainted meat since Roger Clemens.”

Mark is sometimes a little behind the curve on tech stuff, like railways. The photo of the Straight Talk Express he posted is actually not the most up to date, but I am happy to provide a pic of the end of the voyage. It turns out Phil Gramm was at the controls, texting back and forth with a committee of campaign officials and the candidate; his last message was "that’s daylight at the end of tunnel up there, right?"... more
Phil Gramm, due for a Hero of Socialism award.
Barbara Ehrenreich writes:
Surely you have heard by now of the imminent socialist takeover of America, and if you find the prospect unlikely, ask yourself: How many socialists do you know who lost millions in the recent stock market crashes? Just as I thought-none-and that’s not only because you don’t know any socialists. The truth is that we, the Socialist International Conspiracy, not only saw this coming, we are the ones w... more

Mr Bloomberg, addressing a securities industry gathering, said he was already seeing a direct impact of the financial crisis. He said he had dinner on Monday night in a usually full Italian restaurant in Brooklyn in which only three tables were being used. “People are afraid,” he said, adding that most people would not lose their jobs or their homes, but it was a difficult task to restore confidence. ... more
As the GOP continues to cast about, John McCain’s lack of Patented Campaign Message & Money Power™ is becoming a source of concern on their side of the aisle. So far, McCain has failed to make the most of the gap between when the GOP and Democratic nominations are decided and has yet to raise impressive money.

Suspense is building over the race to take on McCain, but unlike most Democrats, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid doesn’t seem too concerned. "Things are being done" within the Democratic party to end the drawn-out primary contest, according to Reid.
Reid told the Las Vegas Journal-Review that he spoke with DNC Chair Howard Dean about resolving the race before the August convention. He seemed as confident of a solution as he was tight-lipped about the specifics. This leaves the rest... more
With several democratic clubs endorsing this evening I would like to take this opportunity to highlight a couple of the reasons why I deserve the endorsements of local democratic clubs above my opponents.
Each candidate in this race has something unique to offer however, what they cannot offer is my consistency, passion, and knowledge. (more...) ... more
The Democratic Party will let Puerto Rico move its primary election up to June 1, and switch from a caucus to a primary. With 55 pledged delegates at stake, Puerto Rico could be a significant prize for the candidates. Bill Clinton will campaign for his wife there in early April. Obama has not announced specific plans for Puerto Rico, but the governor is an Obama supporter.
