Here at the All Things Bamboo Trout Underground fly fishing blog, we support mainstream, traditional fly fishing values - like making up flattering stories about your fly fishing prowess after you return home.
And we’ve found just the thing to do it with: The Bamboo Tornado 51 :
At $40, it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than a bamboo fly rod (and doesn’t use those sticky ferrule thingees).
Plus, a bamboo fly rod only makes you cool in the eyes of other bamboo fly rod users .
This little baby will help you write the outright lies ever-so-slight fabrications that will elevate you to true Master of the Craft (if not Internet Fly Fishing Expert).
After all, a bamboo fly rod’s only useful if you can cast. If you can write (and who can’t), you can be the bestest fly fisherman ever.
See you making shit up writing, Tom Chandler.

When you get a little behind on your posting, people assume you’re lollygagging in front of the television, stuffing handfuls of potato chips into your mouth and washing them down with pureed Twinkies and Diet Coke.
If only the truth were that pretty.
What is true is the Trout Underground’s World is turning upside down; we’re cramming all our worldly possessions into boxes, moving them, and then un-cramming them.
Yes, my friends. We bought a new house. [sfx: gasp of...

It wasn’t long ago that the Trinity’s Rivers Steelhead runs seemingly numbered in the hundreds — the result of debilitating water diversions (most of which headed south to Trout Underground whipping boys Westlands Irrigation District ).
After decades of legal wrangling by groups like the Friends of the Trinity and CalTrout , a little water got put back into the river, and viola — a steelhead fishery was reborn.
Now the fishing’s good enoug...

Except for the uncontrollable, homicidal rage that surfaces whenever my fly line snags in those damned-to-hell metal boot hooks, I don’t give gravel guards much thought.
How about you? Straq at Way Upstream (fly fishing product guy at Patagonia) is looking for feedback about gravel guards , which is either intelligent product development, or a cagey way to get us to do his job for him.
Sure, Bennet says Straq’s a total slacker, but we’ll give Straq the benefit o...
