Recently, there have been some rumblings in the Democratic Party that Senator Clinton should gracefully end her bid for the party’s presidential nomination. Nonetheless, Clinton seems hell-bent on sticking it out to the very end. There are some good reasons and some bad reasons for her to end her campaign, and maybe even reasons for her to stay in the game. But what do you think, Seminal readers? Is it time for Senator Clinton to toss in the towel? Comment away!

I received this flier in the mail the other day from the North Carolina Republican State Executive Committee. Clinton and McCain look like they’re in love, judging by the cover, and the copy is just adulatory: “With intensity and hard work, she left 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling” and, on the inside, “I share Senator Clinton’s goal of promoting women to more important roles throughout our government. By the end of my first time, I promise yo... more

The outcome of the election was not a surprise. A Dem win by either Senator Clinton or Obama became a near fait accompli the moment McCain clinched the nomination in a year in which the economy was the dominant issue for the electorate. The real shocker would have been a McCain upset. But like many other [...]... more

(originally published at MWC News ) Chris Hedges recently published an article called "The Dangerous Atheism of Christopher Hitchens and Sam Harris," ( http://www.alternet.org/rights/80449 ) but he failed to include in it any indication of what he thinks is dangerous about their atheism. He thinks they have horrible political opinions, but does not explain how those relate to atheism. He thinks they have a fetish for science and technology, but does not explain how that r... more

Matt Stoller made a very interesting observation yesterday . Talking about McCain’s first general election advertisement, he said: McCain is obviously hinging his whole campaign on his POW time in Vietnam, with this spot closing with ’An American President Americans Have Been Waiting for’. This is a frequent tool he deploys when he speaks with the press, saying things like ’I haven’t been questioned this hard since Hanoi’. I can’t help but think t... more

Hat tip to quiet Bill for posting this video over at the Agonist , along with the accompanying commentary from Steve Watson at Infowars . As Watson describes, "The footage was shot at a free Tibet peaceful assembly in New York on the 14th of March. It shows the protestors holding flags and signs and peacefully walking down the street towards the UN building in the Turtle Bay neighborhood only to be accosted by police officers with batons. One officer identified as "Delgado" is seen in ... more
