If you’re one of the few Americans who have not yet seen The Dark Knight , keep your eyes peeled for a cameo by Sen. Patrick Leahy. The Vermont Democrat, who lists Batman as his favorite superhero on his official bio , can be seen during the party at Bruce Wayne’s penthouse. He talks tough to the Joker, who puts a knife to the senator’s throat.

The final issue of Grant Morrison’s much-hyped “Batman: R.I.P.” storyline hit the shelves last week (after delays. what a surprise)… and the best thing I can say about the story, now that it’s complete, is that it had some lovely painted covers by Alex Ross. Fair warning: spoilers ahead. A decent summary of the entire story arc (from Batman #676-681)—and its precursors, pretty much the entirety of Morrison’s two-year run—can be found here . In an interview before his speech, Mr. Bush explained what McCain had to do to beat Barack Obama. "He’s got to rally the base," Bush said. "He’s already doing well with independents." Keep an eye on Gov. Rick Perry’s feet in coming months -- they just might get a bit more colorful. At the kickoff to the Smithsonian Institute’s Folklife Festival on the National Mall today, the governor admitted Bhutan Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck had "outbooted" him. "I told his highness backstage that there are very few times in my life that I have ever been outbooted. But I’m tellin’ ya’, he even put me to shame today," Perry said. However, the governo... more
