Library annoyances (libwxgtk2.8)

Hi, I am trying to get Big3DSol (3d solitaire game) to work on my Debian system. I downloaded Big3DSol_1.4_Linux.tar.gz and extracted it to my desktop. It gave an error while trying to run it from the terminal - "./bigsol: error while loading shared libraries: libwx_gtk2_adv-2.8.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" . I then set out to install libwxgtk2.8. I couldn’t find it with aptitude (apt-get) so I got the source and extracted it in /usr/local/bin. Then I did the usual ./configure;make;make install - then ’ldconfig’ after that. All fine. So I went back to run the game but received the same error even though libwx_gtk2_adv-2.8.so.0 (which was a soft link to libwx_gtk2_adv-2.8.so.0.1.1) resided in /usr/local/lib. Any ideas?
