A question we have been asked more than once recently is “how should my company handle a recession from an advertising perspective”? Well some great lessons on this subject were learned during America’s biggest recession – the Great Depression. Simply put, the companies that stayed active in promoting themselves and their products came out of read more ... more

We’re back home now. I’ve returned with the completed (for now) introduction to the book I’ve been meaning to write for more than a year, which I intended to start in earnest as soon as I’d left full-time work with Latitude , but which I hadn’t got round to in the last couple of weeks. No matter what the subject of the post was, WJ Phillips would turn the topic to racial IQs. He calls himself a ‘race realist,’ but he’s just plain racist. So I saw that Peter Cuthbertson has updated his blog with links to a couple of essays - on tax competition and Russian/US relations - he’s written, and when I checked out... more

We’re trying to have rules in this house about working hours - that is, not working all 24 of them. All day, I promised myself (and Antoine) that all computers would be turned off by 10PM at the latest. I even bought a few magazines, and was really looking forward to reading them. And then I ‘just pop on’ to check my email…and then I hit my aggregator, because it’s getting full…and two hours later, I’m on Dlisted , which is pretty much the ... more
