Sound Transit has posted updated information for the new Capitol Hill and University District light rail stations. A few of the local bloggers have shown their disdain of the proposed “art” for the Capitol Hill station. You can see a video of the design here .
It appears that the UW station has no art installations to sneer at, at least according to this artist rendering.
Sound Transit’s website has links to photos, video, and proposed site locations. Check it out.

In the interest of contributing a little fairness and balance to HA’s coverage of Prop 1, the proposed Sound Transit expansion, I am posting this audio message from Kemper Freeman Jr.

Shocked? What are you, having a whack-attack or something? Give them a little credit, dumdum. Sound Transit hadn't proved themselves when we voted on Sound Move, but that's only two years past their initial plan. California's HSR is giving themselves a three-year window to get just an initial segment done. I think they can get at least something up by then. At the very least, we can agree that this truly isn't glacial pace, because even the fastest glaciers move less than 5... more
The Seattle Times says Sound Transit Proposition 1 "retards our economy" and "hurts the poor" by boosting Washington’s sales tax to 9.5% , an unconscionable hike when "most people don’t want to get out of their cars." The Stranger says Prop. 1 is a great idea, and "If you think $69 is a lot to spend on transit in tough economic times, think about what you’ve been paying for gas lately." King County Exec Ron Sims is opposed and would prefer that we wait until 2010 . But w... more

I know this is incredibly late to the party, but I’ve been itching to respond to Erica C. Barnett’s piece regarding the Flexcar/Zipcar merger in last week’s Stranger.
Let me first state that I often agree with ECB and, quite frankly, am befuddled by all the hateful comments that her Slog posts unfailingly generate. I am emphatically not an ECB basher. However, her continued complaints about Zipcar are getting on my last nerve.
I will concede that yes, Flexcar was awesome and yes, t... more
Site Design Update From: seattle.metblogs.com Post Date: 2008-03-07 09:48:36
Metblogs HQ has issued a memorandum regarding the recent site re-design. To summarize, things didn’t go off without a hitch. They never do (although Boing Boing likes it). In the coming days and weeks you should expect to see a darker and easier to read font, a narrower site (it’s way too wide right now), broken images and links fixed, and RSS and post updating wonkiness cured (including author-specific feeds). There are innumerable other things we’... more

Grand Illusion repeats “70s sleaze classic” Teenage Hitchhikers and continues their “Tough Guys Don’t Dance” tribute to director Phil Karlson with a gritty western from the 1950s called Gunman’s Walk and Scandal Sheet, a murder mystery centered on a New York tabloid.
It’s Alfred Hitchcock’s Lifeboat at Central Cinema . Starring Tallulah Bankhead in a story by John Steinbeck, Lifeboat holds t... more
