Watching this video and reading the various updates on Marc Ambinder’s blog ( 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 ) about the machinations of the DNC’s Rules and Bylaws Committee just about brings me to tears. There is nothing wrong with vigorous debate, but the vitriol with which this happens on the left just leaves me, and perhaps many others, shaking my head. A Rare Moment

It’s not often you get a moment with this depth of sincerity in American politics. I heard a sound clip of this last week, but thought the majority of Senator Byrd’s words were worth posting. Politicians need to be strong, fierce at times, and steely with resolve, but it is equally important to have the courage to show pure humanity in this fashion. I’ve been getting a whole schwack of comments from one particular source that keep winding up in my spam filter. The comments are actual comments and seem to differ so I’m going to try going out on a limb and thank Jamie for all her kind words and suggest you check out her site .
