In light of last week’s report in the Wall Street Journal regarding the Roanoke Times’ preferential treatment of Carilion Hospital in its investigative coverage of the non-profit’s funding schemes , it is little surprise that the Times produced this report on the decision to scrap a proposal for the Market Building.
Adam Boitnott , chair of the Roanoke City Republican Committee and a hopeful for an open seat on the Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority, was forced to do the mainstream media’s job.
Mason Adams wrote regarding the proposal under consideration last night that “most of [the City Council members] had not read the full proposal.” Adams intermingled this statement with comments by City Manager Darlene Burcham ; however, the Times reporter failed to inform his readership that a draft of the proposal was never made available to members of Council by the City Manager’s office.

Regarding the 5th, the Roanoke Times says that Virgil Goode "gives conservatism a bad name." I couldn’t agree more. In contrast, Tom Perriello is "an intelligent, articulate, caring individual who has done important work in Afghanistan and Darfur." This one’s a no-brainer, frankly.
