There are many in the industry who do not like Brkic - the majority of whom are simply jealous. He is a maverick in every sense of the word, an idealist in the extreme, and a very canny newsman and writer. It would a pity for the industry to lose this sort of talent. They are already talking about R8.50pl and R9. Alex Jay was saying it cost him an extra R70 to fill up his tank. Double that, and then add half of what you’re paying for food to your grocery bill and it starts to hurt. We were joking about this whilst cycling this morning. One of the solutions, we said, was to quit eating junk food - a major expense for many - altogether. Right now the Rand is R7.80 to the Dollar....
