Embedded video from CNN Video The voting is in, and unfortunately our local hero, Anne Mahlum, founder of Back on My Feet, did not take the first-place prize. That award went to the also very deserving Liz McCartney, who has worked to help rebuild homes for Hurricane Katrina victims. Mahlum beat out 3,700 nominees for her spot in the top 10. She was awarded a prize of $25,000. Mahlum does great work, and the city of Philadelphia wouldn’t be the same without her. ... more

Wanted to test out this new mp3 player buttons and what better music to use than Brad Sucks From Brad’s site: Brad Sucks is the name of my one man band. I write, record and produce songs and put them on this website for people to download and hopefully share and enjoy. There are also some albums for sale. St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, is fast approaching. On this day we will see people wearing shamrocks on various parts of their body and we may even see the occasional person dressed up in full leprechaun gear. Since I’ve already told you how to ooze irish pride with the right St. Patrick’s Day gear , I thought it would be appropriate to tell you why. If you’ve ever heard the real history of St. Patrick’s day you are left with the nagging question: What do sh... more

Marketing and public relations is vastly different on the Web than in mainstream media. He says that the “old rules” of mainstream media (which he says do not work on the Web) are about “controlling a message” and the only ways to get the message into the public domain using mainstream media is to buy expensive advertis... more

THIS IS NOT THE ‘DON’T BUY’ GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON. This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the ‘don’t buy gas on a certain day... more
