Based on the draft released early this evening, it seems that John McCain will be making an appeal beyond the Republican base tonight:
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - John McCain, a POW turned political rebel, vowed Thursday night to vanquish the “constant partisan rancor” plaguing the nation. “Change is coming” to Washington, he promised the Republican National Convention as he launched his fall campaign for the White House.
“I will reach out my hand to anyone to help me get this country moving again,” McCain said in remarks prepared for the a prime time address. “I have that record and the scars to prove it. Senator Obama does not,” he said of his rival for the White House, Sen. Barack Obama.
McCain also invoked the five years he spent in a North Vietnamese prison. “I fell in love with my country when I was a prisoner in someone else’s,” he said. “I was never the same again. I wasn’t my own man anym...

Democrats may tax health benefits - The Boston Globe WASHINGTON - In the last month of the presidential campaign, it was one of Barack Obama and Joe Biden’s strongest attack lines: John McCain, they warned, would “tax your healthcare benefits for the first time ever.”But now, some Congressional Democrats in charge of health reform are talking about doing just that. ... more

Welcome to Vichy America
This was not just another election. The last time we had a presidential election, the Left tried to get a brazen traitor elected - namely John Kerry. This new President from the Left is even more than that. Obama was no traitor, because he never was really on our side in the first place. Obama was really a foreign candidate - in spirit, funding, and citizenship.

-- McCain : "I’m afraid Senator Obama doesn’t understand the difference between a tactic and a strategy".

From a reader:
While some are looking for confirmation whether Mrs. Jopek had asked Senator Obama to stop wearing (or using it) her son's wristband, what all are ignoring is Sergeant Jopek supported the mission in Iraq and died supporting a cause he believed in. That is Obama's greatest shame, that he has always failed to say that SGT Jopek gave all in a cause he believed in.
Yet that is just like what the liberal media failed to say when they propped up Cindy Sheehan. No... more

According to two Republican strategists, the GOP may be on the verge of a General Election disaster comparable to Franklin Roosevelt’s trouncing of Herbert Hoover in 1932:
Two Republican strategists, David Johnson of Strategic Vision in Atlanta and Holly Robichaud of Tuesday Associates in Boston, have penned a memo of advice for Republicans in the U.S. House, in which they say that the GOP is in the deepest hole it’s seen since the Great Depression.
The core of the problem, they... more
With the exception of a brief two-year period from 1960 to 1962 when it was occupied by what everyone knew was a seat warmer who also happened to be JFK’s college roommate, the Senate seat currently held by Ted Kennedy has been a Kennedy Family entitlement for more than a half century.
Now, it seems , Teddy already has plans for ensuring that the next person in the seat is also named Kennedy:
