Five weeks ago, the NRCC launched a project to get supporters to create their own campaign videos attacking Democrats. If successful, this project would defy a pattern where Republican grassroots activists never take action into their own hands:
Remember the MyGOP fundraiser that was so popular is lost money? Remember when the RNC blog went weeks on end without being updated in the middle of the 2006 election season? Ever notice how Act Blue has raised more than 50 times as much money for Democrats as Rightroots has raised for Republicans? Well, Republicans aren’t letting these past netroots bellyflops deter them.
The blog post announcing the contest said the following:
For more details on the contest, check out Josh’s killer YouTube video announcing the contest which already has been viewed more than 111K times on YouTube (viral much?)
The NRCC also said
After the judging panel views the videos, the top five videos will be hosted on NRCC.org and voted on by t...

Michael Moore was on CNN arguing with Dr. Sanjay Gupta about Sicko, claiming that Americans shouldn’t be hurried along the path of bankruptcy and death because of a horrible health care system. Gupta argued that in Canada and England, people have to wait in line to die.

I hope that other groups and organizations will take up our standing Right to Respond offer as Open Left develops--Chris
In many ways 2006 was an extraordinary year for pro-choice Democratic women and for EMILY’s List. We helped elect two new women...

This past 4th of July, Boing Boing posted a patriotic report on how some movie-goers in Dallas turned their reel passion into real civic engagement after a screening of Sicko:

I’m doing a piece on strategies around impeachment that I’d like your help on. The gist of the piece is that there is no serious coalition behind impeachment, which means that relatively high pro-impeachment polling numbers and a series of illegitimate acts by the executive are not translating into a real political countermove. By contrast, the right worked since 1990 against Clinton, with a serious organized and well-funded coalition to delegitimize him and turn every po...
