Here’s some notes to kick things off: Carrie Muskat of mlb.com (click here  for the article), the Cubs pulled Carlos Zambrano yesterday and he will be examined today due to “soreness in his right arm”.  His start had been delayed to begin with, so this is not looking good for owners or the Cubs, who need their ace for the stretch drive and playoffs.  It wouldn’t surprise me if he gets shut down for a week or two to rest, so if I were you I’d scramble to the waiver wire to find a replacement.A According to The Philadelphia Enquirer (click here for the article), there’s a chance the Mets Pedro Martinez is pulled from his scheduled start on Saturday against the Phillies.  They say that Jerry Manuel “left the door open to scratching Martinez later this week if Correnti’s program can’t get him in better shape than he was for Sunday in Florida”.  Martinez is back in NY working on his “flexibility...

Time to Bid Fond Farewell to Pedro
From: nybaseballdigest.com
Post Date: 2008-11-20 14:00:04

Pedro Martinez’s agent said this week that while several teams are interested in his client’s services for 2009, the Mets remain his top choice. And on the surface, Martinez is still a good fit for the Mets. Even if New York re-signs Oliver Perez, their fifth starter remains a question mark, with Jonathon Niese (with his three career major-league starts) the heir apparent. The Mets have little depth beyond Niese at the position, and it would seem that the finest pitcher of his generation ... more

Quick Hit: Chad Billingsley
From: rotoprofessor.com
Post Date: 2008-02-26 03:37:39

Chad Billingsley started last season off in the bullpen, but once he got the chance to start he certainly made the most of it.  He made 20 starts, going 8-5 with a 3.38 ERA and 101 K’s, terrific numbers.  His biggest problem is his control, as he walked 64 batters in 147 innings, good enough for 3.92 walks per 9 innings, a number that is going to make it impossible for him to put up a good WHIP.  Hopefully he can correct for his control, but I don’t see a major improvement happenin... more

I got some good feedback about yesterday’s Quick Hit debut, so I thought it would be fun to try something a little different today.  Today will be a Quick Hit Marathon featuring six different pitchers.  They will be posted throughout the day, so make sure you keep checking back for the latest.  I hope everyone enjoys.  If the feedback is good on this, we will do it again.  Things will return to normal tomorrow with a new Ask the Experts. ... more
Quick Hit: Roy Halladay

This is a new feature I will be doing on occasion here on the site in the afternoons.  It will not be everyday.  It’s just going to be a quick projection for a player for the 2008 season.  Nothing fancy, just the facts.  The series gets kicked off looking at Roy Halladay.  Roy Halladay has been the model of consistency the past two seasons.  He’s not over-powering and will not pile up the strikeouts, but he’s going to provide your team an above average WHIP and ERA while chipping ... more
