I feel like I am drowning in news, there is so much of it. I had not planned to, but I am going to - in the face of all of this news - continue the Insta-pundity format I used yesterday, which helps make things more readable, I think. What do you think? Please let a comment and tell me if you hate it or like it.
Oh, what did “I” think of the speech? I thought she was actually “better” (not by much) on Friday - a little more relaxed. But after the six day baptism of nukes that she’d endured, I thought her composure was remarkable, and all -in-all one of the best political speeches of the last 10 years. She is not “Obama-good” at speechifying. She’s “Bill-Clinton-good”. No wonder the left is nuts. My initial roundup (with Piper video) is here .
And a word of caution to Republicans from your friendly Anchoress: be mindful of how you receive a good. I’ve had several puckerfaced, “she s...

The Republicans running for high office can only give the American people ... ummm ... gobbledygook. They are contaminating American society with it. But I have to say that the McCain/Palin camp has not yet floated a story about a...... more
Palin is in Philadelphia ordering cheesesteaks and still contradicting her running mate on cross-border tactical strikes in Pakistan . You’d think that after watching McCain flat out admonish such a notion during the debate on Friday that she’d think of something else to say by now.
I can’t wait for the VP debate. I will have to run to the Metreon and get a big huge bag of popcorn with extra fake butter. Can Palin make her 5th First Impression a good one this time around? W... more

Hitler Singing the Theme from the Jeffersons .
I happen to think it’s the best sitcom theme ever written, and if I remember the back story correctly, it was composed by an actress who played Florida’s neighbor on “Good Times.” (Also a pretty good theme…”keepin’ your head above water/making a wave when you can…”) I think she asked t... more
AP photo of Sen. Kennedy surrounded by (counterclockwise) Ted Kennedy, Jr., stepson Curran Raclin, Rep. Patrick Kennedy, Daughter Kara Kennedy
The emails about Ted Kennedy’s illness have been interesting - I had a note from a gentleman living though his own hell of cancer and wondering why blogs and the press immediately took to focusing on the political ramifications of this news. I understood his meaning, but it is impossible to write about a Kennedy, especially in this el... more
