Sarah Palin has announced she will cooperate with an investigation into the firing of Walt Monegan, Alaska’s Public Safety Commissioner. This is not the investigation being conducted by the Republican-dominated legislative committee reviewing Troopergate, but a separate investigation by the governor’s appointees. Palin persuaded a dozen individuals, including her husband, not to respond to requests for testimony by the legislative committee. So why is she cooperating with a separate investigation by the Personnel Board? Because it is comprised of three individuals, all appointed by the governor. Two of the members are holdovers from the previous governor; the third is her own appointee. Essentially, Palin can replace these people anytime she wants to. So much for the notion of an independent investigation. Share It Hide Sites $$(’div.d830’).each(...

NY Times Compares Palin Per Diem Expenses To Other States
From: feeds.feedburner.com
Post Date: 2008-09-11 06:52:00

The New York Times has run an article comparing Sarah Palin’s per diem travel expenses with other Governors and states. Compared to other states, her decision to bill the state for travel expenses while staying at home is highly unusual. On her side, Alaska is an unusual situation. Its capitol is isolated. Her decision to work near Anchorage, the largest city, makes some sense. On the other hand, she is not incurring any extra expenses while staying at home, and that is the purpose of the... more

In a move without explanation, The Kansas Secretary of State, Ron Thombourgh, substituted electors submitted by one candidate for President with another set. The Kansas Reform Party is affiliated with the Constitution Party, which nominated Chuck Baldwin for President. However, Thombourgh put electors pledged to the national Reform Party candidate, Tom Weil, in place of Baldwin’s. Realistically, the Electoral College slate has an almost zero possibility of being elected, but that does n... more

While a CNN poll found a statistical dead-heat between Barack Obama and John McCain, 49% to 48%, Sarah Palin comfortably lead Joe Biden. If voters could cast ballots for Vice-President separately, Palin would poll 53% to Biden’s 44%. So far, McCain’s choice of Palin has boosted his campaign strongly. Although Palin has been Governor of Alaska for almost two years, she really has been on the national scene for only two weeks. Biden has had two runs for national of... more

David Patterson, New York’s Governor, is standing by his words. The Governor, who spent 21 years in the state legislator, stated that grassroots activists were often ignored when they called on the capitol. For professional lobbyists, it was a different matter. Legislators paid attention them. Patterson said the legislators “were acting kind of like Count Dracula and that kind of thing.” State legislators were angered by the comment, but it was not just a single, off-han... more
