Here’s some of the reaction to GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s speech last night, and the video of it if you missed it.
She introduced herself as “ just your average hockey mom” and jump started John McCain’s final push for the White House, which starts tonight with his speech.
Palin was feisty and confident , in part because it’s quite different being governor of Alaska .
She also went off script when she joked that the only difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull is lipstick.
Al D’Amato liked the speech , and the Daily News called it “perfect premiere,” and it’s fired up conservatives.
The Obama campaign responded that “it was written by George Bush’s speechwriter and sounds exactly like the same divisive, partisan attacks we’ve heard from George Bush for the last eight years.

Here is another sordid real estate tale, this one ending in suicide and occurring before the current wave of real estate failures. And although the newspapers have not made us aware of suicides that have occurred in the current wave of failures caused by the heartless men who manage our money supply, we can be sure that, human nature being what it is, that probably hundreds or thousands have already occurred and perhaps many more are to come. I realize this is just speculation, but Americans ... more

State Sen. George Maziarz, R-Newfane, Niagara County, said he’ll announce a decision next week on whether to run for the 26th Congressional District seat being vacated by Rep. Thomas Reynolds, R-Clarence, Erie County.
Sources say that the county chairmen in the district that runs from the Buffalo suburbs to Monroe County are all behind Maziarz, so it’s just a matter of whether he’s officially on board.
