The news on callups continues to roll in, so I wanted to pass along the names of the 10 Pirates that are being recalled. Russ Ohlendorf probably has the most value, since he is going to be slotted into the rotation. It’s a 6-man rotation, however, and I am just not that high on him to begin with. I’d consider monitoring him but I clearly would not yet make a move on him and probably wouldn’t consider it anyways.
It should also be noted that Andrew McCutchen is not among the recalls, which is a little bit surprising. He has a lot of talent and is thought to be among the top young players the Pirates have, but there would have been a lot of pressure to play him if he were on the roster. With him not there, the team has the opportunity to take a look at Brandon Moss, Steve Pearce and Nyjer Morgan to see what they actually have. Quick Hit: Chad BillingsleyFrom: rotoprofessor.com
Post Date: 2008-02-26 03:37:39

He made 20 starts, going 8-5 with a 3.38 ERA and 101 K’s, terrific numbers. His biggest problem is his control, as he walked 64 batters in 147 innings, good enough for 3.92 walks per 9 innings, a number that is going to make it impossible for him to put up a good WHIP.
Hopefully he can correct for his control, but I don’t see a major improvement happenin...

If the feedback is good on this, we will do it again. Things will return to normal tomorrow with a new Ask the Experts. ...

This is a new feature I will be doing on occasion here on the site in the afternoons. It will not be everyday. It’s just going to be a quick projection for a player for the 2008 season. Nothing fancy, just the facts. The series gets kicked off looking at Roy Halladay.
Roy Halladay has been the model of consistency the past two seasons. He’s not over-powering and will not pile up the strikeouts, but he’s going to provide your team an above average WHIP and ERA while chipping ...
