Pirates of the Burning Sea looked so promising when it was in the works; pirates, online, pillaging, thousands of players? Awesome was written all over it.
Unfortunatly unfavorable reviews and other competitors meant the game didn't sell all that well, and as such, the developers are fairly desperate to attract more people to the game, which really is quite fun.
So, without even entering card details, you can go ahead and play the game for 14 days, to get a serious feel for whether it could be the MMO for you.
