It’s the talk of the day, after Clinton adviser Geraldine Ferraro made the following repulsive comments:
If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position,” she told Farber. “And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.
Obama is who he is and ‘what if’ stories are meaningless, as Ezra Klein writes . Ferraro, on the other hand, thinks that it the Obama campaign is set out to destroy her, and that it are they who are racist by making a ‘fuzz’ about her comments. Clinton has said she disagrees with Ferraro, but doesn’t want to denounce her. I think MSNBC-anchor Keith Olbermann is right that Clinton is wrong and should really do something about this, and do it soon.

If Obama Played Risk...From: feeds.feedburner.com Post Date: 2008-12-01 00:20:00
Imagine, one afternoon, by some magical coincidence you find yourself in a room where a number of ‘players’ are gathered around a world map, playing Risk. What’s unusual about this game is that the players are not ordinary people like me and you. They are in fact the heads of states of some of the most influential countries in the world and they have gathered together in the UN to ‘play it out’, over a Risk game.

I think we’re all getting a quite vivid sense that
President-elect Obama’s way of handling tough situations is to set
his jaw, furrow his brow, stare purposefully forward, say
reassuring things, but on no account to make any clear statements
of intent, or to actually do anything.
At least one of the consequences of this extremely risk-averse
approach to leadership, is that financial markets are completely in

For that matter how many women will be able to resist voting for the first woman vice-president? Well, it didn’t help Geraldine Ferraro in 1984. But that was another age. In the USA, the general opinion about same-sex marriage seems to be changing .
It’s interesting to see how fast this change has come about.
Gay marriage was introduced in The Netherlands not more than 7 years ago. Back then, this was in general considered to be outrageous, even by many, maybe a majority, of the Dutch. However, I think the Dutch have gotten used to it. I don’t think they can even understand anymore how anyone could have had problems with it in the first pl... more Obama has won! From: withinreason.eu Post Date: 2008-03-10 01:31:19

No, of course he’s not going to to that. As John Kerry responded: this must be the first time in the history of American politics that the number 2 in the race for the Democratic nomination asks the number 1 to be her running mate.
