Rar seems to be taking over the compression space for many people, and since I get some super satisfaction from using the command line to do things like these I thought I’d point out these command line application that lets you rar files Figure out your $PATH… type echo $PATH into the terminal.app Download the program here Navigate to the proper file location copy the files to your $PATH location. You’ll need to be able to access super user permissions. So make sure you’re in that mode. Now you can rar files from the command line. Go get your geek on. I’ve been without the internet for a couple of days (Blame Rogers), so I’ve be unable to pass along some information about NewsFire.  Much like the other famous RSS readers, NewsFire has gone freeware over the last couple of days.  Fully featured free, and not scaled back waste of application free either.  Looks like NetNewsWire and NewsFire have taken a page out of Vienna ’s book. Change Tracks At The Blink of An Eye

So, apparently, everyone’s so lazy that they can’t even use their fingers to change the track, pause, and rewind music on their iPhone/iPods.  Seriously? Seriously?  Are we that pathetic? Apparently some Japanese engineers have developed a remote system that will let you control your iPods remotely, sans hands.  Blink and you change a track, blink with both eyes you pause the track .  Blink for a prolonged period and it starts fast forwarding.
