Last week, a guy who used to be a key part of the Green Bay Packers offense took a pay cut with his current team, the Houston Texans.  The restructuring of Ahman Green’ s contract made few papers and did not garner much discussion on the airwaves, and quite frankly, it is not something that most people care about.  I bring it up because most times people see the restructuring of such a contract as a stupid move by the player and often think that the agent was not doing his job.  Instead, I offer the opinion that in a case like Ahman Green’s, his agent made a very smart move by agreeing that his client drop guaranteed salary in favor of the chance to earn similar money through bonuses. I figured Iwould just make a thread for all pro football fans. You can share who you like and just talk about all. Try and not bash others to bad if at all. With tht being said I am a BIG Houston Texans fan. I think they will be there one day, if they just get a good consistant quaterback. I beleave this is all they are lacking. :D ... more

World Series Sleaze

Sticking to the theme of baseball (it is MLB Amateur Draft week , after all), could a sports agent be blamed for Oklahoma State’s downfall in this year’s College World Series? It would be too easy to just place blame for an entire team losing a game directly on an agent, but could sleaziness have gone that far…far enough to intervene in an amateur event? Oklahoma State LHP, Andrew Oliver, is a stud on the mound. In 2006, he was drafted in the 17th round by the Mi... more

Newark Bears C/1B/DH, Gerard Haran, has very quietly become #3 in batting average and #3 in slugging percentage on a team that is full of talent. The Bears organization is widely known as an Independent League team that truly matches up better against MLB farm talent than its Atlantic League counterparts. They were the 2007 Atlantic League Champions and look to repeat in 2008, currently sitting in first place in their division with a 2.5 game lead over second-place Somerset. In his limited ... more

The CBS network debut of Elite XC, featuring the ever so popular Kimbo Slice, earned huge numbers and an outstanding rating. But this whole promotion of Kimbo Slice being a MMA superstar is going to turn out being a disaster. Kimbo Slice is very dominating when it comes to knocking out schleps in his backyard, but that kind of fighting doesn’t go far in MMA. While Slice punished the 16-9 James Thompson, it was by no means an impressive performance. Slice may possess incredible punch... more

Is Ted Forstmann already interested in selling IMG? If so, then all signs are pointing towards former Yahoo! and Warner Bros. Entertainment CEO Terry Semel as being the front-runner for the acquisition. Semel is interested in reshaping the organization once again. When Forstmann purchased IMG, he scrapped the team sports divisions (baseball, football, etc), let go of some big name agents (Tom Condon, Casey Close), but retained strong ties in individual sports like golf and t... more
