The Sons of Confederate Veterans who George Allen has supported in the past, no longer supports George Allen. They say it is because Allen no longer supports the Confederate flag. They also say George Allen is dis-associating for political reasons, including his current political problems, in order that he can get re-elected and to go on to become the President of the United States. African American political Pundit says: I wonder if the Confederate Group is no longer supporting George Allen because he is Jewish and segregationist organizations have felt for a long time, that being Jewish is just a bad as being black? I guess that is why George Allen refused to acknowledge Jewish roots. In reply to Confederate Veterans: 1917 : The last Union veteran to die was in 1947 in Minnesota. Life Magazine had a write up on this. There is one veteran from WW1 now living. It is in the newspapers as I write. He is 108 and lives in Pennsylvania. [The Wikipedia article on last surviving veterans, which is never an exact science.
