[Since this is a blog and not a research journal, I usually just blab about this or that, but for today’s entry, I feel some references are in order in case you wish to see where I’m coming from. I know not everyone agrees with me on this, so that’s why I’m trying to show that I’ve at least looked at the problem and why I feel the way I do. No hard feelings if you disagree, ok? This is just my opinion and you know what "they" say about opinions .... ;) ] Oil company executives were back on Capitol Hill today under questioning from Senators about the high prices of oil. I have to admit I followed the proceedings with a bit of bemusement. In America, development of new oil resources on American soil has been limited by the government. American domestic undeveloped oil fields are thought to contain approximately 119 billion barrels of recoverable oil.( Reference 1 page EX-4 and page 21). As I was cleaning yesterday, a police officer from my city stopped over and dropped off a notice on the city’s recently activ... more

All in all, a few boxes of things were lost, but nothing terribly consequential. Other people in the area weren’t so lucky. I heard of three feet of water in one basement (everything in the basement was lost) and the next door neighbor of this couple had three feet of sewage backup in his basement. Angie and I spent the ... more
This afternoon, the four of us (that, of course, being Angie, the kids and myself) went over to my brother’s house so the cousins could hang out. It was 85 degrees (29 C) and it has been a stormy pattern here lately. Yesterday, we had tornado warnings in the county where I live, which is reasonably unusual. This afternoon, another line of storms came in while the cousins where outside playing on a water slide my brother had set up. As the kids were taking turns going d... more
