About midway through Gov. Sarah Palin’s speech last night, I experienced something I never thought possible -- I began to feel sorry for Joe Biden.
The self-professed hockey Mom left the Obama-Biden tag team on the mat bruised and bleeding. There were so many great lines, but here was my favorite - her description of Barack Obama:
We’ve all heard his dramatic speeches before devoted followers.
And there is much to like and admire about our opponent.
But listening to him speak, it’s easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform - not even in the state senate.
This is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting, and never use the word "victory" except when he’s talking about his own campaign. But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed ... when the roar of the crowd fades away ... when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some stu...

For many of us, 2008 will mark the last time we vote for a candidate who does not favor same-sex marriage. Hopefully, this will be because at least one candidate from a major party will support those rights, but we should also be prepared that, as ...

Number of comments: 1 Not one to avoid controversy for long, Alaska Governor and former Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin is back in the news for an interview she gave at a location that was possibly not thoroughly vetted by her public relations staff.
As Palin nonchalantly fielded questions from reporters in an ad hoc [...]

Sarah Palin wishes everyone a happy Thanksgiving. The Huffington Post explains the occasion:
On Thursday, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin appeared in Wasilla in order to pardon a local turkey in anticipation of Thanksgiving. This proved to be a slightly absurd but ultimately unremarkable event. But what came next was positively surreal. After the pardon Palin proceeded to do an interview with a local TV station while the turkeys were being SLAUGHTERED in the background!! Seemingly oblivious to ... more

Fired Up From: feeds.dailykos.com Post Date: 2008-11-22 18:30:05
President-elect Obama’s address to the nation today has got me all fired up all over again. In the days immediately following the election, there was a natural sort of waning of intensity as the afterglow of victory receded. And then the distraction of the HRC and Lieberman dramas was disconcerting. All this was taking place in a leadership vacuum created by the combination of George W. Bush’s unwillingness to do anything to help the economy, and by the fact that Barack Obama do... more
Random Feed wrote an interesting post today on Here’s a quick excerpt Verizon Wireless fired a number of employees who accessed Barack Obama’s cell phone records. The mobile phone privacy breach was investigated and the company apologized to Obama. The President-elect was using a simple voice flip phone without e-mail capabilities.

From Reno Gazette-Journal:
Edmond Dewey Swensen, known as Dewey, was campaigning in Sparks on Oct. 18 when he suffered a massive heart attack and died, his wife Susan Swensen said Friday.
In addition to speaking to Obama, Susan Swensen said she also received flowers from him and has VIP seats for his campaign appearance in Reno today.
She said her husband, 64, had been campaigning for Obama for just four days but that it had changed him.
“It was like he had a complete purpose,” she... more
Traditionally, Americans conceived of taxes as a way in which citizens paid for basic government services that benefited all (such as defense, infrastructure, etc.). With socialism, the notion arose that the government was to take from the rich (as defined by the government) and give to the poor (as defined by the government). Since the Civil Rights movement, the American tendency has been to take from the rich (as defined by the government) and give to the victims (as defined by themselves... more
Worried about "the tightening?"
Well, Obama’s national lead has been stable at 7% for a month now. The national campaign is not tightening, and we are just seeing statistical noise.
Even if the campaign were tightening, Obama would still have a comfortable national lead. According to polling conducted over the weekend during the tracking poll "tightening," Obama reaches 264 electoral votes in states where he leads by 9.5% or more, passes 277 in Virginia where he leads by 8.0%, and hi... more

Much of the 9/11 remembrances today are focused on the victims of that horrific attack seven years ago. But today it is also appropriate to remember the nature of the threat we face from radical Islamic extremists, and the responses each presidential candidate gave to Rick Warren at the Saddleback forum when he asked them about the existence of evil.
John McCain was quick to say we should "defeat evil" and immediately noted the use by terrorists of adults with mental disabilities as suicide ... more
