Mike Arrington, you know, the cock of the walk behind Tech Crunch who can make or break startups depending on how many shots of vanilla flavoring the high school girl with botox in her face and an orange tan working the pumps at Starbucks decided to bestow upon him earlier that morning, has made a declaration that voicemail is dead and is attempting to persuade everyone to stop using it. Techmeme is going ape shit and if there was anything news worthy happening this weekend then trust me, I'd be talking about that instead. Hello and welcome to 1999 Mike! I should be so lucky to live in a country [Finland] where quite a large portion of people text you before they call to find out if you are free to speak. It isn't a Finnish thing either, back when I was in Junior High School and my friends couldn't reach me, they just left a text message. The fact that you have to limit your thoughts to 160 characters makes trimming the bullshit and eliminating the small talk absolutley ...

Copy and paste on the iPhone!
From: feeds.feedburner.com
Post Date: 2008-03-11 20:55:26

Cut and paste is quite possibly the singularly most requested feature on the iPhone. Sure, the iPhone can recognize an phone number in any webpage/text message/email. And calling the number is a simple matter of tapping the phone number and initiating the call. But, what if you want to copy and paste a URL or block of text? Well, for that you need some good ole' cut-n-paste action. I love to blog from my iPhone. The keyboard and predictive/corrective text feature allows me to type way faste... more
What’s wrong with the iPhone SDK… and how to get it fixed
From: feeds.feedburner.com
Post Date: 2008-03-11 16:37:52

The iPhone SDK is great. I've talked it up enough in the past few days that it should be quite apparent that I think the iPhone SDK will bring a new wave of development for the iPhone's Mac OS. Still, the glaring problem with the iPhone SDK is that the development platform is limiting iPhone coders from taking full advantage of the iPhone's hardware. It's like putting 1000 horsepower into a sports car but only giving access to 600 of those ponies. Sure, Bugatti limits the pow... more
RIM wants to secure BlackBerry camera with a lock and key
From: feeds.feedburner.com
Post Date: 2008-03-11 12:42:38

Research In Motion is all about getting its BlackBerry smartphones distributed for fleet-use in enterprise environments. Unfortunately, that means that corporate users will have to opt for the camera-less BlackBerry 8800 series. It would be a bad day to have corporate secrets walk out the door inside some cameraphone's flash memory. On the one hand, nixing the camera is a good security measure. On the other hand, corporate users won't have a camera to play with when outside the office.... more
Germany demands Nokia return $92 million in subsidies by month’s end
From: feeds.feedburner.com
Post Date: 2008-03-11 12:25:28

It's clear that Nokia's closing of their German plant has incensed the Germans to no end. Like a crazy girlfriend scorned, the state-owned NRW.Bank has sent Nokia a demand for the return of subsidies provided to open the Bochum plant. Here's the kicker, NRW.Bank wants the subsidies refunded with interest. Germany already demanded the return of subsidies, but there was no mention of interest. The juice has apparently been running since 1998, and with loan amounts in the tens of mil... more
