Yet again, an Apple update steals the show with the release of iPhone OS 2.0.2. Strangely enough, you may have been a recipient of the following text message (ostensibly from Apple) even if you upgraded:
For a release that just “fixed bugs,” I find it difficut to believe that the motivation behind the SMS (if it was from Apple) is not more related to a security issue than Apple’s desire to ensure iPhone users are well-informed.
Apple also released a MacBook Air update (full disclosure: this one I did not install as I do not own an Air) which fixes issues with video playback and processor core idling. Apple makes note that third-party software that modifies processor operating characteristics such as frequency and voltage is not supported and should be removed before installing this update.
However, Apple is not the only one gettin’ busy with the late-summer updates:

If you are an Apple iPhone or iPod touch owner, you’ve likely noticed that nearly every time you check out the App Store, there are several updates available for applications you’ve downloaded.
That shouldn't surprise anybody who follows Apple. The Apple M.O. is to lock down stuff as much as possible to keep the control in its hands so it can charge as much as possible. I REALLY wish the iPods weren't such cool devices!

We decided to forgo Molalla and the paw paws (alas, paw paws, and Molalla to be frank, are still a mystery to me).
Instead we made our way to Portland Nursery ’s Apple Tasting event, and then drove out to Sauvie Island to visit the clothing optional beach Pumpkin Patch .
The Apple Tasting has been going on for 21 years, but this was my first visit. Too many damn kids, if you ask me. But I guess that’s the price you pay for fresh pressed apple juice and fr... more
Apple’s much anticipated Bluetooth headset is now available to order in the Apple store.
It will run you around $130 and is scheduled to ship in 2-4 weeks.
The headset also includes the iPhone Dual Dock and iPhone Bluetooth Travel Cable.
Thankfully there are no blinking lights on this headset. It keeps true to Apple design and is small, sleek, and unobtrusive.
Thanks for the tip Chris .

Here are a couple of photos with Apple related content from Flickr. I have plans of doing this type of post regularly…we’ll see how that turns out.

This is too funny - and too clever - to pass on. If you’re an iPod owner, or more recently, an iPhone owner, then you’re likely aware of the high level of interest that thieves may have in getting their hands on your nifty Apple gadgets. So it’s probably a good idea to do your best to protect that investment.
So what better way to hide your iPod/iPhone in plain site than by sticking it inside a case that looks like Microsoft’s Zune ? Clearly this should safeguard... more
The CookBook application which was one of the 3 top spots in the My Dream App competition has some updated details . The pictures sure are pretty, and it looks like things are really coming together nicely. From the post, it sounds like it’s nearly decided to be Leopard-only, so we’ll assume no release until at least October of this year. Looks mighty tasty - check it out!
