I am—drum roll, please, cue trumpets—making this announcement in the cyberpages of The Daily Beast (what joy to be writing for a publication so named!) rather than in the pages of National Review, where I write the back-page column. For a reason: My colleague, the superb and very dishy Kathleen Parker, recently wrote in National Review Online a column stating what John Cleese as Basil Fawlty would call “the bleeding obvious”: namely, that Sarah Palin is an embarrassment, and a dangerous one at that. She’s not exactly alone. New York Times columnist David Brooks, who began his career at NR, just called Governor Palin “a cancer on the Republican Party.”
As for Kathleen, she has to date received 12,000 (quite literally) foam-at-the-mouth hate-emails. One correspondent, if that’s quite the right word, suggested that Kathleen’s mother should have aborted her and tossed the fetus into a Dumpster. There’s Socratic dialogue for you. Dear Pup once said t...

My family attended the Obama Rally at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
My 12yr. old son pressed through the crowd until he reached President Obama.
They shook hands and chatted a few minutes.
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get a photo of this life-changing event. Is it possible to ask your readers if any of them happened to snap a picture of President Obama talking to a little black boy wearing locs, at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas

The clean energy transition represents a tectonic shift in the global economy, promising every bit as much economic opportunity as the industrial and information revolutions. By leading this change, we can attract good green jobs, pump our energy dollars into our local economy, and build a sustainable prosperity for our kids.——————————————As President Obama and Sen. Merkley take offi…... more
Guests began arriving early. There are no place cards and no name

Everyone knows everyone else here. Now, there’s a grand foursome Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz sharing laughs with Martin and Coretta Scott King. Looks like Hosea Williams refused the limo again, keeping it real. And my goodness; is that Rosa Parks out there on the dance floor with A. Phillip Randolph? Seated at a nearby table, Frederick Douglass has a captiv audience in W.E.B. DuBois and Fannie Lou Hamer, an... more
In a new series, which I just decided to start today called “Idiocracy Watch,” I plan to chronicle stories that expose the fact that the U.S. of A. is still a nation of stupid people who blend anti-intellectualism with racism to create ignorance and intolerance.
Today’s entry comes via Editor & Publisher , which has, since the election, been tracking stories of hate and bigotry related to our country having somehow elected a black man to the presidency. Here are some l... more
I think Holger Awakens says it all.
Did you get that? Only 2 percent of all muslims in America voted for John McCain - guess my vote for McCain was just justified once more! This poll is published over at C.A.I.R.’s website, which I refuse to link to here at Holger Awakens, so I will post the entire article at the bottom of this thread. But here’s a bit of the data:

I received this email from the Hillary Clinton campaign on Wednesday:
Dear Amy,
We are living in a very special time in American history, with an election that has redefined the boundaries of possibility and set our nation on a positive path with new leadership.
Things are changing in Washington and we have reason to hope that the next four years will look much different and better than the last eight.
As we look forward to a new era in Washington, there is still one piece of unfinished... more
Mike Santner writes:
A great illustration of the coming redistribution of our wealth.
As a side note, the howobamagotelected.com site I sent you earlier made it to O’Reilly tonight, and apparently, left wing web sites are furious. What, that people now know how stupid they are?
The Zogby poll actually backs up the results of these interviews as true, that the poll subjects knew more about the negative of the GOP than anything at all about the Dumbocraps. Did you hear when... more

I don’t know if I should file this under "Politics" or "Death from the Skies!" Maybe both.
Or maybe just "Humor". Yeah.
PostScript: Republicans? Are you listening here? You may want to throw Governor Palin into a sack and lock her in a cellar somewhere far, far away, to prevent her from ever doing media interviews again . I’m just trying to throw you a bone here. ... more
