Darren Everson of the Wall Street Journal asked the question: Is Joe Torre Worth the Money? Â At the end of this article is the following:
“I think managers are a bit overrated in terms of the impact that they have on their players,” says J.C. Bradbury, an economist and associate professor at Kennesaw State University and author of “The Baseball Economist.” To make a team better, he says, “get better players.”
This sentiment is consistent with the following statement I posted a few days ago :
Again, coaches get far too much blame (and credit) for the outcomes we observe in the NBA.  It’s the general manager - the person picking the players - that ultimately determines the fate of a team. This point needs to be remembered next time you visit fireavery.com  or FireGeorgeKarl.com . Firing the coach -without changing the players - is not likely to change much for your favorite NBA team. And if your team’s g...

Henry Abbott - of TrueHoop - posted the following story on Wednesday:

The article details a letter sent from George Karl’s lawyer - Bret Adams - to Andrew Feinstein, founder of the website FireGeorgeKarl . In this letter, Adams tells Feinstein: Â

Earlier in the week I commented on the website FireGeorgeKarl , created by Andrew Feinstein. Feinstein argues that George Karl - head coach of the Denver Nuggets - is the reason why Denver is unable to contend for an NBA title this season. When we look at Wins Produced, though, we see a different story. The past performance of the players Denver employs this season do not lead one to predict title contention this season. Yes, Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson are top scorers. But nei...

The Better BarryFrom: dberri.wordpress.com
Post Date: 2008-03-08 23:28:14
Brent Brent began the season with the Spurs, but was traded to the Sonics last month. The Sonics then waived Brent, and he’s now waiting to re-sign with the Spurs .
As we wait for Brent to return home, I thought I would ask a few Barry related questions.
1. How good is Brent Barry?
2. Who is the best Barry brother?
3. What do the Barry brothers do well (or not so well)?
4. And most importantly, how do the Barry brothers compare to the father?
How good is Brent Barr...
