Scott Hodge a few weeks ago blogged about using Mind Manager as a study tool for sermons. I gave it a try and loved it. It is great for studying sermons because you can take notes based on how your mind works. I have always had a hard time figuring out how to best get my thoughts down about passages where I can go back later and know where I was going with thoughts and pick it back up. I’m also using it for projects. It is great to track what you’ve done and what you need to do. What I don’t like? The price. For a youth minister getting ready to church plant, it was cost prohibitive. So I went on a search for alternatives. During that search, I found Free Mind. It isn’t as shiny as Mind Manager, but it is free. In what I’m using the program for, it has everything I need. Plus, it has the ability to import the Mind Manager files into it–so I didn’t lose what I had already done. For those who deal with studying or projects, I’d recommend either of these tools.
