Mars Hill has received much attention for the live SMS Q&A that’s become a part of our Sunday routine and a fixture at our conferences and seminars. Both local ( Seattle Metropolitan ) and national ( Associated Press ) media have written stories about this experiment, just one of the many ways we’re trying to live up to our distinction as one of America’s most innovative churches (view list ).
Here’s a recent clip about Mars Hill Church’s live texting, from KOMO News in Seattle:

This fall, Pastor Mark will preach what’s shaping up to be a landmark series in the history of Mars Hill Church. It will feature live texting across six campuses and twenty services (currently, SMS Q&A is used principally at Mars Hill Ballard...

A Sign From Heaven? From: downtownseattle.marshillchurch.org Post Date: 2008-10-24 15:15:15
It was an exciting week around Mars Hill Downtown as we got to see, not one sign, but two signs go up on the exterior of our building. We are grateful to a couple donors who graciously gave to the sign fund. Because of our limited budget we’ve had to raise funds specifically for this project, but what a crucial project it is, as I have talked with people in the city on almost a weekly basis that have no idea that 2333 Western Ave is Mars Hill Church.
So, now the thousands of people who... more

Damaged Portion of the Building
A small church on the corner of Chestnut Street and Shelby Street  has been sitting wounded from this year’s windstorm and in need of repair.  A decorative brick element has toppled over onto the sidewalk, its bricks still strewn about the base of the building.  This is one of our favorite churches in town as it is small but grand, proudly occupying its corner site.  Its austere detailing and multi-colored slate roof help define the Phoen... more

Today I was refreshed and reminded of God’s grace within the women of Mars Hill, especially in the life of Jen Zug, who just made a wonderful post on the West Seattle blog.
Sometimes it is easy for me to tunnel-vision with my little world and see the problems I have to work through. It is so encouraging to look up and across the wider horizon - to spin around in a circle and gaze deeply into the past and future… because the grace of God is evident everywhere.
Take a minute to... more
